There are many excellent beauty salons in London; in fact London has some of the best salons in the entire world. You will find all sorts of beauty services available such as hairdressing, face and body massage, facial cleansing, pedicures and manicures, and hair bleaching. Another service that is becoming increasingly popular is the attaching of semi-permanent eyelash extensions. My favourite salon is Designer Lashes.
Applying eyelash extensions is a meticulous task that takes around an hour and a half. Each lash has to be fixed to your existing lashes individually; the salon expert will fix the extensions by using special glue, and then curl the eyelashes until she achieves the look you desire. As each eye has around 100 lashes, it is no wonder that this is a time-consuming job that should only be undertaken by an experienced professional.
The benefits of eyelash extensions are they give you thicker lashes eyelashes. You can decide on how glamorous you wish your extensions to look; some people like to have very long obviously fake lashes while others preferred to go for a more natural look. Many celebrities use eyelash extensions including Cheryl Cole, Liz Hurley, and Paris Hilton to name just a few.
The eyelash extensions will fall out gradually. Because they are fixed to your existing lashes they will only last as long as the natural cycle of the lash. Most people find that after around six weeks the extensions have disappeared completely, and therefore it is optimal to get your lashes redone every four to five weeks.
When you have eyelash extensions applied, there is no need for mascara as your lashes already appeare thick and lush. However, you can use it if you like to as long as the mascara is water-based and not oil-based. In a similar fashion you should not use any oil-based cleansers or eye makeup removers. The oil will loosen the glue that fixes the extensions to your lashes causing the extensions to fall off sooner than usual. To ensure that your lashes last as long as possible, only use water-based cleansers or water with a mild soap to wash your face at night. If you are unsure which products are water based and which are oil-based, ask your beautician for a list of suitable products that you can use while you’re wearing extensions. Most salons also have products for sale that do not contain oils.
When wearing eyelash extensions, you will be pleased to know that you can shower, swim or do any other activities that involve water. However, you should be careful not to stand under a direct shower stream within the first 24 hours of having your lashes fixed.
